Birr Castle, situated in the centre of Ireland was the location of some of the most successful game and country
fairs in the ROI. Birr Castle, situated in the centre of Ireland was the location of some of the most successful
game and country fairs in the ROI. In 2007 with the cancellation of the National Country Fair it was decided that
a new sustainable National Irish Game Fair should be staged at Birr.
To that end Albert and Irene Titterington, from the original Game Fair organising team (and also organisers of the
successful Town & Country Fairs at Slane Castle, Co Meath) joined up with David Wilkinson (Director of previous
Fairs at Birr, and Markree) and Philip Lawton (well known for his main arena expertise at quite a few Fairs in
Ireland) to form a "dream" team to launch a new Irish Game Fair.
Since then the Fair has been a huge success in terms of all of the parameters of success i.e. a superb venue;
superb prizes and competitions; a good range of trade stands who did unrivalled business and a fantastic overall
attendance. In just one year the Fair delivered a performance on a par with its partner Fair in Northern Ireland. The
